Little Sister born in this land – Analysis
“Little sister born in this land” is written by the poet Eias Miguel Muñoz. The poem is about a big brother and a little sister who has grown up in two deferent countries. The big brother appears s to be the first person narrator who speaks about his sisters’ situation through the poem. The poet has written the poem without any cross rhymes, rhymes, puns and alliteration. The reason could be that he wants to focus on the content instead of give the poem a flow. It could have something to do with he wants to make the reader think about the content. For example when he begins to stanzas whit the lines: “When you slip away, slowly and lovingly” When he repeats himself he want to emphasize the content otherwise he would not repeat it.
The brother was born in Cuba, and the sister was born in America. It means the older brother grew as an immigrant, where the sister grew up in more “Stable” surroundings. It means that the siblings grew up with uniquely possibilities and deferent opportunities. When the brother grew up he did not have a great deal of toys to play with, so he played whit the toys that he got. The little sister grew up with much more toys and therefore are they slipping away from each other.
The older brother is talking about his little sister have difficulty imagined and it is because of the toys. He means when you grow up with low possibilities, you learn how to use your imagination to make the world more exiting, but when you got all the things you need you do not have to use your imagination for making the stick look like a gun, because you already have the toy. So in a way he means it is very healthy to grow up with few material objects.
So all in all the writer wants to point out that the siblings are slipping away from each other, because of their childhood. It is not because the brother does not love his sister. It is because he just feels sorry for her and thinks she is missing something. So again the poem is about to kinds of cultures against each other.

The themes in Little sister born in this land/Hermanita nacida en estas tierras are tres different cosas: Upbringing, amor de hermanos y criticism of the society. La relaciones between the dos siblings y the upbringing is muy good, he does not reprocha her but he thinks it is una lástima that she only get to ver America y not Cuba. The big brother criticizes the sociedad de América by saying that it is materialistic y sin imaginación. She worships de los heroes de Disney because they make her sonreír. He critica her upbringing mostly porqué he likes that él had a good infancia en Cuba. Él piensa que that his littlesister y him will not be enterrados together. In some way el hermano criticizes his padres for not giving his hermana pequeña the misma upbringing que él. But several times he point out that he does not reprocha su herman a.
